Q: How will I know that the Owner Builder Discount Card (OBDC) is good value for money?

We guarantee that if you are building a new home of about 250m2, you will have saved more than the value of the card before you have poured the concrete slab. (Providing you purchase your products from our supporting companies listed on this website.)

There is a builder’s buying group in Perth WA where the builders are paying more than this amount for an annual membership.

Our first card holder is only building a small home in Mt Nasura. He recently made contact with us and said he saved about $1,000.00 on an original quote he had from Mastertruss (Roofmart) for a steel truss roof for his home. This obviously more than paid for the cost of the card with the saving that he made.

If you decide to purchase the OBDC and upon receipt of your cleared funds, we are happy to provide you with a list of good and reliable Trades People that we may have used in the past or that come highly recommended. If you require this, simply complete the details in the "Contact Us" section and send it via email, and we will provide a list as per your request at NO EXTRA COST! However, we do not accept responsibility should an incident occur with one of these trades people which is beyond our control.

So, your OBDC will guarantee you great Discounts and Savings at all of the supporting companies on the website, plus a list of recommended Trades People Free of Charge to ensure your building experience is an enjoyable one.

Q: Does the OBDC have an expiry date?

The card will expire 2 years after the month of issue. The expiry month will be on the face of the card. (If you purchase the card in April 2009, the expiry month will be the last day of May 2011.)

Q: Can we have an extension on the expiry date if our house in not completed?

Yes. You may apply for an extension of 1 year. The cost of the extension will be $200.00 for 1 year extension.

Q: I am a registered builder who only builds a few homes per year. Am I able to purchase the OBDC?

Yes. As a registered builder you are able to purchase the card and make use of all the discount structures in place to build your home

Q: Can I use the OBDC for other site addresses if I am building more then one home?

No. The OBDC will be linked to one site address only. If you are building two or more homes on other sites, you will need to purchase the OBDC for each site.

Q: Can I give the OBDC to my friends to use when they build their home?

No. The OBDC may only be used by the card holder (or their spouse) and for the site address linked to that name. This will be strictly enforced by the supporting companies and any fraudulent use will result in cancellation of the card. No refund will be given should this occur.

If you have friends who are also building their own home, they can purchase the OBDC in their own name.

Q: What happens if I lose the OBDC or if it is stolen?

Simply email the management and we will cancel your existing card. We will then arrange to have a replacement card with a new card number sent to you within 21 days. (A small administration fee will apply.)

Q: Can we use the OBDC in regional or country areas in WA?

Some of the supporting companies have outlets or branches in various country areas. The OBDC may be used at all of these participating outlets. Please check and confirm this prior to making your purchase.

Q: Can the OBDC be purchased and used in states other then WA?

We are currently negotiating with companies in other states of Australia.

Some of the companies on this website have a national presence and have indicated a keen interest to present Owner Builders with this offer in other states.

It is our intention to ensure Owner Builders can use this card in all the states of Australia some time in the near future. Please continue to check the website as it will be updated as new states become available.

Q: Is the OBDC website affiliated with the Home Base Expo in Subiaco?

No. The Owner Builder Discount Card (OBDC) is a totally seperate entity and is not related to the Owner Builder Seminar provided by Home Base Expo in Subiaco. While this seminar will provide you with insight to the process of building your own home, the sole purpose of the OBDC is to ensure that you have a legitimate discount card that you can use at all of the supporting companies on this website. This will result in significant savings over the cost of building your new home.

Q: Do you have a list of reliable and recommended trades people that you can provide for us?

If you decide to purchase the OBDC and upon receipt of your cleared funds, we are happy to provide you with a list of good and reliable trades people that we may have used in the past or that come highly recommended.
